Another ICE observer was executed at point blank range in the streets of Minneapolis. This happened on Eat Street, a mostly immigrant-owned restaurant corridor in Minneapolis. beyond beurre blanc rapidly assembled a list of those restaurants that have gift cards online, as they will be forced to close due to the volume of people coming to protest and observe.
Our restaurants are struggling right now and we need to support them if we wish for them to remain open after the end of ICE’s occupation of our city. Some of these restaurants closed yesterday due to the General Strike and now will have indefinite closures.
A note: I am a food writer, restaurant critic, and reporter. I do not believe this is the only action to be taken right now. I believe people must be in the streets and taking direct action, but this is my beat—and our restaurants need us badly as ICE has targeted restaurants and restaurant workers in their operations, forcing many businesses to close.

This is an incomplete list of Eat Street businesses, with many of the restaurants who need us the most not having gift card options online. However, all Eat Street businesses need us right now.
We have a piece that is forthcoming that outlines every Eat Street restuarant from Lake to Nicollet, including those that offer in-house delivery. We will publish that the week of January 26th. If you’re local, know that many Eat Street restaurants, including those not listed here, are open for business.
BBB is trying to mobilize some rapid response support for our neighborhood restaurants that have the option to get a gift card online. BBB has reached out to multiple businesses that have Toast, because we know it’s easy for them to set up gift card options, and we’re contacting every single Eat Street business to figure out how to get a gift card from them right now. Quang is truly a Minneapolis treasure. This restaurant was started by the family of my high school friend, and we used to get free food and limeade while we did our homework or hung out. Amazing family, unbelievable food.
