A companion guide to Spoon and Stable's NA menu

For the past few months, I’ve been going to Spoon and Stable to drink and eat. Why else do you go to Spoon and Stable? But I was going to drink and eat with purpose. I wanted to give you an NA guide to their menu and my take on pairings.

I have a complicated relationship with Spoon and Stable, but in general, I’m a huge fan of new(er) Chef de Cuisine Mason McDaniel’s food and the bar program at their sister, Demi, led by Jessi Pollak.

One of the challenges of pairing NA drinks is that I find that lots of somms, bartenders, and servers try to pair drinks 1:1. They pair a red NA Merlot like they might pair a real Merlot, and to be honest, there are additional flavors and loss of body and bite in an NA wine. For red NA wines, there’s often a sediment problem, too. So when that classic pairing comes to you, it might feel like the right choice to a bartender, but as you keep eating and eating, you feel like you’re losing something when you take a sip.

Time and time again, I see recommendations fail.

So, as a regular drinker of NA everything, I’ve decided to make some guides for you, not from the perspective of a somm or bartender, but from the perspective of a girl who drinks NA and pairs it with food all the time.

Highly focused on (maybe unconventional!) pairings, this is my guide to Spoon and Stable’s NA menu as of April 10, 2025. This is a time-bound review, with some food and beverage items coming on/off the menu. I’ll probably update this occasionally, but not with every drink change!

But if you plan on using this guide, becoming a paid subscriber would mean a lot to me! The cost of drinks for this piece (I had each drink twice and of course, I tip) was $220. I’m independent, which means people like you fund my work!

If four people become paid monthly subscribers (it’s $6/month), you cover the cost of drinks for this piece.
